Daniel Byrne is a tax principal based in Rothstein Kass’ Roseland office. Dan advises clients on tax aspects of corporate mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, investments in complex financial instruments, partnership tax planning and compliance matters, deferred compensation, captive insurance arrangements, and the taxation of global business and investment transactions. Dan is a certified public accountant and a licensed attorney in New Jersey.

Dan has over 13 years of experience in the tax profession, including eight years with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in New York. Dan provides tax advice to a diverse group of clients. He represents a number of alternative investment fund clients, including domestic and offshore hedge funds (all strategies), private equity funds, funds-of-funds and investment advisors. He also advises several large and midsized commercial clients on corporate and partnership tax planning and compliance matters, structuring, transaction support, tax due diligence, preparation and review of FAS 109 calculations and audit representation before the IRS and other taxing authorities. In addition, Dan works extensively with multinational companies on cross-border structuring, financing and tax compliance matters. His international clients include a fruit grower and distributor with worldwide operations, a publicly-traded international shipping company and a number of executives of multinational companies.

Dan has earned several degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in accountancy from Villanova University, a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law, and a Masters Degree in Tax Law (LL.M.) from New York University School of Law. He is often called upon to speak as an authority on international tax issues and has lectured at events presented by the Council for International Tax Education (CITE) on topics such as structuring foreign operations and U.S. tax reporting for international mergers & acquisitions.
