Robert Hartnett joined Rothstein Kass in 2007 as a tax principal based in the Denver office. As a member of the Firm’s financial services practice, Rob specializes in providing tax planning, consulting and compliance services for clients in the financial services industry, including onshore and offshore hedge funds, commodity pools, fund of funds, master feeder and other fund structures.
Rob is instrumental in consulting with clients and attorneys on fund tax issues including the start up, formation and ongoing operational issues of a fund, state tax issues, taxation of financial products, tax law changes and in the development of tax reporting databases and software applications. In addition, Rob participates in developing and instructing in-house continuing professional education seminars related to fund tax matters.
Rob earned his Bachelor of .Science degree in accounting from the University of Delaware. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA). In addition, Rob is a member of the Managed Fund Association’s (MFA) Tax Committee that works together to review new and proposed tax legislation and regulations that could affect funds. The Committee also assists the MFA in drafting comment letters and information for lobbying efforts regarding the same. He has also written articles for the MFA Reporter and has been a speaker on tax topics affecting funds and investors at industry conferences including MAR Hedge, Opal Financial Group and the MFA.
