Paul Kangail is a tax principal and leads the Rothstein Kass tax practices in the Firm’s Walnut Creek and San Francisco office locations. Paul has over 20 years of experience providing tax consulting and compliance services to various sectors of the financial services industry, garnering most of his experience by working for Big Four accounting firms such as Deloitte and Touche, LLP and PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP.
Paul provides tax consulting and compliance services to a range of clients including hedge funds, fund of funds, private equity funds, venture capital funds, mutual funds, broker-dealers and other financial services institutions. Paul helps clients identify tax implications associated with complex U.S., foreign, equity, debt and derivative investments; analyze benefits associated with various investment entity structuring; and develop and execute tax planning strategies.
Paul graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics and he is a certified public accountant in California. He is one of the founding steering committee members of the National Investment Company Service Association’s (NICSA) alternative investment group and has served as a member of NICSA’s West Coast Steering Committee. Paul is a frequent speaker and conference organizer for numerous investment management conferences and he is currently teaching a graduate course at Golden Gate University on the taxation of financial products.
