Scott Woods is a tax principal in Rothstein Kass’ Dallas office. He provides tax consulting and compliance services to alternative investment entities including domestic and offshore hedge funds, fund of funds, investment advisory entities, as well as individuals. His clients range from new fund managers to multi-billion dollar commodity funds and well established fund of funds. He also serves a variety of oil and gas clients.
Scott advises clients on the tax implications associated with a variety of fund structures and trading strategies including: long-short equities, commodities (both financial and physical products), currencies, MLPs, royalty trusts, REITs and weather derivatives. He has extensive fund structuring experience and understands the complexities arising from accepting investments by foreign, tax-exempt and ERISA plan investors. Internally, Scott has been very involved with interoffice communications among tax professionals by leading the Firm’s tax roundtable weekly conference call. He is also involved with staff tax training and firm best practice procedures.
Scott is a graduate of the University of North Texas (Denton, TX) with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance and a Master of Science degree in taxation. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA).
