Matthew is a principal based in the Firm’s Denver office. He oversees audit, accounting and tax related matters for alternative investment clientele and has worked extensively with various investment vehicles including hedge funds, fund of funds and private equity funds. Matt is a certified public accountant in Colorado, New York, and California, and is a member of the professional CPA societies in those states.

Prior to joining Rothstein Kass, Matthew accumulated “Big Four” financial services experience at PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York and Ernst & Young in Los Angeles. In 2000, Matthew joined Rothstein Kass as a manager in the Firm’s Walnut Creek office, which was established to service the San Francisco Bay area.  His expertise lies in advising alternative investment entities on initial organizational structure, audit processes as well as the management of operational and tax compliance matters. Matthew was instrumental in establishing the client base and processes for the Walnut Creek office.  

With proven success in the Walnut Creek office, Matthew was asked to lead and launch initiatives for the Firm’s Denver office in 2004.  His management and professional capabilities facilitated the success of the Firm’s Denver based financial services practice.  As a testament to his leadership and dedication, he was promoted to principal in July 2005.

Matthew graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton with a B.S. in accounting. He is also the co-founder and manager of the Colorado Hedge Fund Roundtable, which facilitates communication, education, and networking among the Colorado alternative investment community. In addition, he is the founder and chairman of the Denver chapter of Hedge Funds Care, an alliance of hedge fund industry professionals dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and treatment of those who have been victimized.
